Who are we?

Reusing materials and repairing products has always been very normal for me. I got that from my father. As I saw more of the world, I was amazed at how much material had already been used in large buildings, infrastructure and means of transport. I already wondered then whether we would ever run out of materials. I started working in construction because a lot of materials were used in that world. By opting for renovation projects, at least a large part of existing buildings was reused. Unfortunately, a lot of finishing material still disappears into the container and a lot of new material is still added to buildings. There are now a number of companies that trade in materials that are released from old buildings and reused elsewhere. Used wood is also sold on the private market. Buurman in Rotterdam is my great inspiration and I have been buying my second-hand wood there for years. I believe this concept can also work in the municipality of Lansingerland.

Waarom een Houtbank?
Duurzaamheid en Circulariteit zijn thema's die steeds belangrijker zijn en vaker besproken worden. Voor ons is dat voornamelijk zuinig met materialen omgaan, hergebruiken en repareren.

Wij vinden dat hout te makkelijk wordt weggegooid met het idee dat het wel wordt gerecycled. Het gebeurt omdat het een specifieke afmeting is wat men niet jaren wil bewaren tot het ergens gebruikt kan worden. In Nederland gooien we per persoon ongeveer 31 kilo houtafval per jaar weg. Het wordt verwerkt tot spaanplaat. Het hout is eigenlijk nog goed genoeg in zijn huidige vorm. Daarom vinden wij dat het een tweede kans verdiend. Dat is de reden dat we in de Gemeente Lansingerland een houtkringloop hebben opgezet.
